Busy, busy week

We are having hardwood floors installed this week at home, so Connor and I headed to LG on Sunday afternoon to spend the week with Sunshine and Granddaddy (my parents). On Monday, we took Connor to the pool for the first time. He did great! He enjoyed his float, but I think he liked being held by Mommy in the pool the most. He loved kicking and splashing with his hands and feet!

Aunt Christie and cousins Alex and Mackenzie came to visit Connor from Tallahassee. He had a great time with them! Mackenzie plans to teach Connor all sorts of things as he grows up. She loved burping him after he ate and she was a great playmate for him!

Sunshine, Connor, and I went to Birmingham today. He met his great-aunt and great uncle this morning (Uncle Murry and Aunt Wayne). Then, Connor was able to meet his newest cousin, Evie. She is 4 1/2 months younger than him. She was born on May 21st and is so precious! I cannot believe that Connor was ever as small as she is now!

Connor has had a GREAT time with Sunshine and Granddaddy this week and I think they have had a GREAT time with him! He has also been spoiled rotton by them and by his aunt and uncle, "Nonnie" and Uncle Dusty that live down the street from my parents! They have visited every day and played with him many times while I have had a nice, quiet, child-free dinner this week!

We are so blessed to have so many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents that love Connor!

He can be so silly sometimes. Here is a cute silly face picture!

Naptime

Hooray! Yea!! Whooohooo!!! Naptime has been improving! Last Thursday, after a day of not napping, Connor crashed and napped for 2 1/2 hours in his bed. Since then, he has done better and better about taking naps. Getting him down has gotten much better and he has taken several one and a half hour naps and even a couple of two hour naps! Some naps are still as short as 35-40 minutes, but some are really long! He rarely wakes up from a nap crying, so I think he is finally getting enough sleep!

Nighttime sleep is still hit or miss. Some nights have been great, while others (last night) have been terrible! But, in general, I do believe his sleep is improving! It is hard not to get too excited about it, but I'm trying to keep my excitement in check because I know that he may (and probably will) relapse soon! He used to sleep great at night and now he doesn't, so I have learned that a good thing does not usually last long! But, I will enjoy it while it lasts!

Here's a video of Connor trying to eat the ball on his Aquarium Play Mat. He is so funny!

Play Time

Connor loves his Aquarium Play Mat that Miss Abby and Uncle Andy gave him, but the big ball was very frustrating for him on Sunday. He could not get it to his mouth!! The top part of the playmat (where his head should go) has toys that the baby is supposed to hit with his hands and the bottom part is a big ball that the baby can kick. Connor started out laying under the toys that he can hit with his hands, but he scooted his way down until he could get to the ball!

He hasn't learned to roll over from his back to his stomach yet (probably because he HATES being on his stomach), but he does flip to his side a lot. He sleeps on his side a lot at night. Lately though, he manages to do a 360 in his bed several times through the night. He is a wiggle worm whether he is awake or asleep. It is pretty funny to watch!

Reading with Daddy. Connor LOVES books and gets very excited when you read to him. Certain books are his favorites, but he will listen to anything you read him. He especially loves it when you lay on the floor by him to read! I LOVE to read and I hope that Connor continues to find a joy in reading as he grows up.

On another note, I would love to hear more ideas on getting Connor to take naps. Nighttime is not our problem as much as naptime. Connor cannot seem to sleep in his bed (or anywhere other than his carseat). When he does sleep in his bed (usually out of pure exhaustion), he can only seem to sleep for 35 minutes at the most. We have blackout curtains and sound machine, but none of it seems to work for Connor. Many people have suggested implementing a consistent naptime routine. We have tried and tried to do this. But, Connor HATES a naptime routine. He learns a routine after about three days and then starts doing terrible with the routine. As soon as you start the routine, he will start crying. For example, Connor has learned what songs we sing for sleepy time, like Amazing Grace, Jesus Loves Me, etc. Everytime we try to sing those songs in his dark room, he starts to cry now! For awhile we would try to sing other songs like The ABC's in quiet, soft voices, but he caught onto what we were doing after about three days! Now, he starts fussing as soon as we start singing him to sleep! We try doing the same routine day after day, but after a couple of days, he catches on and starts fussing as soon as we start. We try putting him down drowsy, but awake, but he just wakes himself up and starts screaming. We've tried countless other approaches, which often start off fine, but after a few days, he starts doing terrible. He is now exhausted because he is not napping enough. I feel so bad for my sweet little man. He needs to sleep and just cannot do it.
