Connor's Adventures

Connor has been busy! Last Thursday, Connor and I headed to Atlanta to visit GiGi and Great-Granddaddy - Connor's great-grandparents. Great-Granddaddy had knee replacement surgery a few weeks ago and was in rehab. We surprised him with a visit! Here a few pictures of Connor hanging out with his Great-Granddaddy!

After spending the night in Atlanta, we headed to LaGrange. Daddy met us in LaGrange and Connor was so glad to see his Daddy on Saturday morning. Connor had family from all over congregate in LG for his baby dedication. Connor's cousin Harper has a birthday coming up, so we celebrated her birthday on Saturday night. Doesn't Connor look ready for some cake and ice cream!?

Sunday was all about Connor. We had Connor's dedication at church and then a family luncheon. We had a great time seeing everyone! Connor has so many family members that love him so much and that traveled very far to see him! Here are some pictures from his dedication day.

Connor had his 6 month pictures taken on Monday. He was tired and did not want to smile, but our photographer got a couple of great shots. I have not seen all of the pictures yet, but three of them are on her blog at http://www.photosbytracyt.wordpress.com/. They are so cute!

And today, Connor, Sunshine, and I went to Auburn.

He is such a good baby! With so much going on, so many changes, people, and places, he has adjusted so well! He is just the sweetest baby and has enjoyed seeing so much family! We are so blessed by Connor! I cannot imagine having a better baby!

Questions

Connor started "solids" last week. He's eating rice or oatmeal baby cereal at lunch and dinner (he does not eat breakfast well, so we're not doing breakfast for now). I'm having a hard time figuring out when to nurse and feed solids. Connor does not typically get up until 7:30 or 8:00 and had been on a 3 1/2 hour nursing schedule (8:00, 11:30, 3:00, 6:30, and then 8:30 or so for bed), but I'm not sure if that is working with the solids. I've tried nursing before feeding solids and I've tried nursing after solids. I'm afraid he's not getting enough solids if I nurse first because he fills up on milk and he fills up on solids if he eats solids first and then he's not interested in nursing. I have been trying to nurse at 8:00, solids and nurse at 11:30, nurse at 3:00, solids and nurse at 6:30, and then nurse at bedtime. Another problem is that somedays, Connor wants to take two naps during the day; one in the a.m. and one during the middle of the afternoon (interferring with the middle of the day feeding) and other days he wants to take three naps during the day; one in the a.m., one in the early afternoon, and one in the late afternoon. Does anyone have a better schedule for us? Connor did GREAT on a schedule for the first few months of life, but seems to have outgrown his schedule and I'm not sure how to adjust it. I'd love to hear what kind of routine any of my friends out there had for their 6 month olds! As always, I'm open to suggestions!

Two Teeth

I forgot to mention in my last post that Connor has got TWO teeth now! Last Friday, June 27th, I felt the right bottom tooth. Then, on Sunday, I felt the left bottom tooth! We knew he had been teething because he had been unusually fussy for a couple of weeks, but he did not seem bothered by teething last week when the teeth actually came through! So, two down, and a whole lot more to go!

Happy Half-Birthday Connor!

Yesterday was Connor's half-birthday! We welcomed Connor to our life six months ago and we have been so blessed by him. When he smiles, we smile; when he laughs, we laugh! We definitely have the cutest, sweetest, happiest baby ever! Okay, maybe I'm a little biased and a proud mommy, but I cannot imagine him being more perfect. I have taken thousands of pictures since he was born. I cannot imagine having a child before the digital picture era. I take so many of the same shot just to get a cute smile! But, I treasure all of them. I have looked back at the pictures from the last six months and cannot believe how much he has changed in such a short time. And, it is amazing to think how much he will change between now and his one year birthday. Oh, but I do not want him to grow up too fast! I feel like the past six months have flown by! It feels like he skipped a month or two somewhere because I cannot believe that six months have gone by already.
To celebrate his half-birthday, we visited his Pediatrician, Dr. Middlebrooks, for his 6-month check-up. He was such a good boy at the doctor's office and only cried for a second with the shots. He weighed 17lbs, 14oz. and was 27 inches long!
