Connor finished K3 Preschool last week. I was so sad! When school started last August, I did not want him to go to preschool. I actually considered backing out just before school started. But, I am SO glad that he went! He went to preschool twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) this year. That was a perfect transition for him and it gave me time with Kyle and time to run errands with only one child. I love being a stay-at-home mom and do not want my babies to grow up. I want them home with me as much as possible! They will be going to school for almost 20 years and then they will work for the next 40+. I just want them to be babies as long as possible and to be able to enjoy carefree days as long as possible. But, K3 twice a week was great for Connor. He loved school and loved his teacher and loved his class. And, I loved his school, his teacher, and his class!
As the school year came to a close, I was so sad that it was ending. And, not because I would no longer have my two mornings a week with only one child. I know so many people that desire that extra time so much, but I really miss Connor while he is at school and I don't mind him running errands with me. But, I was so sad because it has been so good for him and he has had such a great teacher! I hate that when he goes back to school he will be in K4, not K3. That means he's getting older and I hate it! I don't want him to be in K4! :(
Connor's teacher was Mrs. Head. She was the perfect teacher to love him, encourage him, and challenge him. We have loved Mrs. Head this year and are so sad that he will not have her next year. We will definitely have to visit her occassionally at school. And, I hope that Kyle eventually has her!
Below is Connor and Mrs. Head from Open House the week before school started in August. To me, he looks so little! He was nervous, but excited that day.
And, this is him on the last day of school! He is growing up so fast! He met so many great friends and learned so much this year.
In August, he will go to the same preschool three days a week. But, for now, I am enjoying our summer together, while he is still little a little bit longer!
We have been so blessed to live so close to great parks and to live in a community that is often having family friendly activities at the parks. This past Saturday Augusta celebrated Armed Forces Day with an event called Thunder Over Augusta. It was at the new park around the corner from out house. There were tanks, Humvee, helicopters, and other military vehicles. There was a race car, stunt motorcycles, and a black hawk helicopter that took off. There was also a huge area of moonwalks and slides for kids. We only stayed for a couple of hours, but it was an all day event with concerts and fireworks. Next year, maybe we can keep the kids up late and stay for the fireworks! But, the part we did attend was great! And, best of all, it was all free! A fun day for our two boys.
Daddy and Connor in front of the race car...
While Connor did the inflatable slides, Kyle wanted to climb in the Humvee. He loved it and wouldn't get out! The kid in the background wanted to get in the front seat because his friend was in the driver's seat, but Kyle wouldn't get out for a long time! He loved it in there!
Later, he "drove" a military truck...
After all of that work, he needed a nice long sip of Sonic Cherry Lime-aid...
Since I was with Kyle, I didn't get any pictures of Connor on the slides, but here are a couple of him with his new American flag...
This picture is for Bobbles. It is the black hawk that we saw take off. We were lucky enough to be at the front of the crowd to watch it.
While waiting for the helicopter to take off, we watched stunt motorcycles fly through the air. It was really neat to watch them do flips in the air. Connor and Kyle took turns sitting on Jeremy's shoulders to get a better view of the motorcycles....
And, finally, lift off! Both boys (actually, all three) loved watching the helicopter take off. Kyle loves helicopters and airplanes so he had a giant grin on his face and wouldn't stop watching it until it was completely out of sight!
And, a picture of the three boys! I love these boys!
Kyle can pitch a world class temper tantrum sometimes. It is actually so amusing to watch (as long as we are at home and not in public)! Yesterday, he finished off the last of my sweet tea (he loves it as much as Connor and I do), so I went and threw the cup away. Well, that was the last thing he wanted m to do! He laid out on the flood and pitched a tantrum. It was hilarious (at least to me; probably not so hilarious for him)! I had to document it...
Kindermusik has been a part of our lives since Connor was 8 months old. We are now in a Family Time class that has ages from babies up to Connor's age. The boys love going. And, it is a great use of all of their energy!
Jeremy and I took advantage of a friend getting married in Washington, D.C. and made the trip a mini-vacation for us. It was our FIRST trip away since Connor was born 4 1/2 years ago! And, it was wonderful! Here are a few pictures of our trip.
And, a HUGE Thank You to Sunshine and Granddaddy for keeping Connor and Kyle for us for FIVE days! I hope you have recuperated!
