Thankful - Day 30

Today, I am thankful for my family!  I've been thankful for Jeremy, Connor, and Kyle on separate days earlier this month (although, honestly, I'm beyond thankful for them each day!), but I am thankful that the combination of these guys make my special family!  Our family would not be what it is if one of them were not apart of it.  No one could take their place!  And, I love each of them so much individually, but I love all three combined so much, too!  I love my family!

Thankful - Day 29

I'm thankful for a fun playdate for the kids today!  The kids had a great time playing with their friends Austin and Anna Liz and I had a great time talking with Beth!  Those four kids could entertain themselves for hours when they are together!  And, I'm thankful that today was a beautiful day and we were able to get outside for awhile on the playdate.  Kyle took a great 2+ hour nap and I had to wake him up so that we could go to Bootcamp!  Great day!

Thankful - Day 27 (and Belated Day 26)

I missed yesterday, but I thought about it.  I just never got around to posting my thankful post!  But, yesterday, I was thankful for the beginning of the Christmas season!  I'm thankful for our Christmas decorations that we've started to put out.  We've put up our tree and decorated some of the house.  We have a few more ornaments to add to the tree and we need to do our outside decorates, but it is all coming along and I love looking at our den with the decorations!  I'm also thankful for all of the opportunities that I've found to talk to Connor about what Christmas really means.  We've talked alot (this year and other years) about Christmas not being a day we celebrate so that we can get presents, but that Christmas is about Jesus' birthday.  We've tried to explain that Christmas would still be special without the gifts because of Jesus.  And, the other day, Connor was watching a Christmas/Holiday video and a character said something about "what Christmas is about," but said it in a way that did not mention Jesus and Connor said, "That's not what Christmas is about.  Christmas is Jesus' birthday!"  I loved it!

Today, I am thankful for bootcamp.  I know I've been thankful for it before, but today I really needed it!  After almost two weeks missing it for travel, I was glad to exercise again (and it was definitely a tough workout)!  Today was a trying day as a mother.  Kyle woke up early and did not sleep well or long for nap.  Connor and I were having trouble today.  I was more impatient that I should have been and he could not seem to obey much of anything I said.  I had a lot of work things come up and I've been working on the annual Christmas Blurb books.  I needed a break.  So, I was thankful for one hour away while I knew they were having a great time with friends!

Thankful - Day 25

Today I am thankful for a safe trip home!  After nine nights away from home, we returned home and decorated the Christmas tree!  We had such a great trip to Auburn, LaGrange, and Atlanta.  We hated to leave everyone, but we were glad to be home and I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!

I've had limited internet access the past few days, so I haven't updated Days 22, 23, and 24, but I was beyond thankful on those days, too!  I was thankful for my family, Jeremy's family, Thanksgiving traditions, lunch wth my family, the Lighting of the Macy's Great Tree at Lenox, midnight shopping with my mom and Cerie Godfrey, more Black Friday shopping with my mom, Cerie, Ree, Ann, and Lee, late night games of Farkle with Kevin, Lee, Andy, Abby, and Jeremy, and lots of good food and good laughs!

So Thankful!

Thankful - Day 21

I am thankful that Jeremy is heading to LaGrange now so that we celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow.  I'm so glad for him and for us that he has the next four days off!  We're looking forward to spending time with family for the next several days.

Thankful - Day 18

I am thankful for these kiddos!

The older four cousins have such a great time together!  And, Baby Millie is going to be able to join in on the fun before too long!

I am so thankful that these five kids get to spend as much time together as they do!  They have so much fun together and are so much fun to watch together!

Thankful - Day 17

I am thankful for our amazing extended family.  Our family of four is so blessed!  Our parents are the best grandparents ever.  Our brothers and sisters and sister-in-laws and cousins and aunts and uncles are all so important to us and love our children so much!  We are spending a lot of time over the next week with of our families.  We are spending this weekend in Auburn visiting with Jeremy's family, but because we are blessed with extended families that get along and enjoy each other, my parents will be joining us for dinner tonight.  The boys and I will be spending the next few days in LaGrange visiting my family and then we will all head to Atlanta at the end of the week to visit with more of Jeremy's family.  And, I know we will have such a great time with everyone!  I am thankful that we have families with whom we can spend time happily and voluntarily!  We want to spend time with everyone and we enjoy it so much!  We are so blessed by all of our family!

Thankful - Day 16

I am thankful for Connor's school.  Connor loves school.  He loves going and he loves his friends there.  He has a great teacher and has really learned so much this year.  I love seeing all of the school work that he brings home.  Kyle is so ready to go to school, too, because he sees what a great time that Connor has at school.  Connor loves art and music and P.E. and circle time and recess and everything else about school!  I'm glad that his early school experiences are so positive for him.  I pray that he will continue to enjoy school and continue to have a desire to learn!

Thankful - Day 15

Today I am thankful for doctors and dentists to help care for all of us so that our family stays healthy.  We have a great pediatrician, Dr. Middlebrooks, that always listens to my concerns, even the silly, crazy ones.  He's one of those people that I am so thankful to have in our life, but I hope to not see him often at all!

The boys go to a great pediatric dentist office.  Today was Kyle's first time visiting the dentist for a cleaning.  I knew Connor would do fine since he has been several times, but I figured Kyle would do terrible. He hates for me to brush his teeth.  It is a twice daily fight with him, so I figured he would not want a stranger brusing his teeth either. I was wrong! He did amazingly great! Even the hygentist, dentist, and receptionist were amazed at how well he did. He let them clean, scrap, floss, and flouride his teeth. So, I am going to start recruiting strangers to come brush his teeth daily!

I'm thankful that we have access to great doctors to care for us!

Thankful - Day 14

I am thankful for my mother-in-law today!  Ann (aka Mimi) is the best mother-in-law! So many of my friends have major problems with their in-laws and dread going to see them or having them visit.  I am so blessed to enjoy spending time with my in-laws!  She loves spending time with Connor and Kyle and they love her so much!  She will sit on the floor and play cars and trucks with Connor and Kyle for hours.  She is patient and gentle with them.  Ann has treated me as a daughter from day one.  I've always felt so comfortable with her.  I have spent many hours shopping with her (and my sister-in-law Lee) over the years.  We have always had such a great time shopping together, especially over Thanksgiving weekend. It has been such a great bonding time for us!  Ann is kind, gentle, patient, and thoughtful.  She loves her family so much!  This last year has probably been one of the toughest for her.  A year ago, her dad passed away and she has had to have a huge part in caring for her mother, even though she lives four hours away and her husband (Bob) works in Arizona.  She spends every other weekend in Atlanta with Grandmother.  With Grandmother's mind going as it has been, this is very difficult for her.  But, she has done it with patience and grace and love.

I'm thankful to have a caring, easy to be around mother-in-law.  As the mother of two boys, I see that I will one day be the mother-in-law to my boys' spouses.  It is such a different relationship than a mother-daugher relationship, but she has shown me how to do it with love and grace.  I pray that I will one day be able to be a great mother-in-law to Connor and Kyle's future wives.  I want them to love and respect me as much as I love and respect Ann!

Happy Birthday, Ann!  I hope you have a fabulous day!

Thankful - Day 13

Today, I am thankful for my camera.  I've loved taking pictures, especially since I had kids and have wanted a "fancy camera" for years.  And, I finally saved up to get one.  Of course, it is not the fanciest of the fancy...far from it, but it is perfect for me at this stage of our life.  And, I love it!  No matter what camera I have though, I love taking pictures of my boys.  I like to document everything that I can.  If you've been to our house, you know that pictures are important to me.  I love pictures!  I love that a picture freezes a moment in time and that I can display it in my house for all to see or on my blog for far away friends and family to see or on facebook for more friends to see.  I love that through digital photography and through the internet, I can share my life.  I make a photobook from Blurb.com every year.  It is my "scrapbook" of life.  I have a book every year since Connor was born (2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011).  I will do the 2012 book next year.  These books are big...2011's book was 222 pages, but I love how they look and I love displaying them in my living room.  I also do a book every year for Christmas for the grandparents.  I do one for my parents of our past year and one for Jeremy's parents and grandmother (and it includes Kevin and Lee's pictures, too, so that it includes all of the grandchildren).  These photo books take a lot of time, but I am so happy to do them because I love sharing pictures with others.  Pictures shouldn't just sit in a camera or a phone for weeks or months or sit on a computer for no one to look through.  I love being able to share our pictures with friends and family and I'm thankful that I have a camera that allows me to take decent pictures to share!

A Fun Weekend

Saturday morning was spent doing yard work.  Jeremy had two little helpers.

But, after awhile, the playset became more entertaining.

On Saturday afternoon, my parents came to visit.  They came bearing gifts from our good friend Cerie!  Lots of Pirate things!

Thank you, Cerie!

Kyle and Sunshine did a little reading...

Then, Connor and Sunshine made cookies...

We all went to church on Sunday and then to lunch.  After lunch, we all played outside for a little while before Sunshine and Granddaddy headed home.

Connor played baseball with Granddaddy...

Then, Kyle tried to hit the ball himself...

It was a great weekend!  Lots of fun!

Thankful - Day 12

Today, I am thankful for my father-in-law, Bob (aka Bobbles).  I have been so blessed to have a great father-in-law.  He loves his family so much and adores his grandchildren.  Six years ago, he offered me a part-time position as his Office Manager.  It was supposed to be a job that I could do while we lived in Arizona.  Jeremy hasn't worked for W5 in five years, but I have continued to work for Bob for almost 6 years!  He is a fabulous boss.  He is honest, generous, kind, thoughtful, and smart.  He runs his business with the uptmost integrity and I am proud to be able to work for him.  But, aside from beng a great boss, he is a great father-in-law.  He is incredibly generous to all of us.  He treats his wife with amazing love and respect, which he has taught his sons, specifically Jeremy, to do.  I believe that I owe a lot to Bob for he man that Jeremy has become.  He was a great father to Jeremy as he was growing up and continues to be a great father, friend, father-in-law, and grandfather to all of us now.  I am so blessed to have Bob as a father-in-law.

Happy Birthday, Bob!

Thankful - Day 11

Today, I am thankful for all of the grandparents I have had.

My grandfather on my dad's side died before I was born, so unfortunately, I never knew him and my grandfather on my mom's side died when I was one, so I do not remember him.  But, I was blessed to know both of my grandmothers (Mimi and Mama Lena) until high school.  Mimi passed away when I was a freshman, but I still remember spending lots time a her house growing up.  Stan and I could ride our bikes to her house.  She was a Godly woman.  She loved all of us very much.  Mama Lena passed away my sophomore year of high school.  She lived in Tallassee, AL, so we did not see her as often, but I have great memories visiting her and picking the pecans off the ground in her back yard and going to the yearly "homecoming" day at her church.  She was still taking in sewing alterations for people until she passed away.  I was blessed to know both of these amazing women for 15/16 years.  And, I am thankful that I was able to know them.

I loved my grandmothers very much, but they did pass away while I was fairly young and unfortunately they never met Jeremy or Connor or Kyle.

I have been blessed though to know three of Jeremy's grandparents.  And, they all have treated me as their on granddaughter from day one.

Grandmother Mom's (Bob's mother) birthday would have been today.  She passed away four years ago, but she got to meet two month old Connor.  She was so happy that day to meet him and I am so glad that I got to take him there that day!  Grandmother Mom was a joy to be around!  She was so kind and generous and loving and funny.  I was blessed to live with her for three weeks after Jeremy moved to Arizona and we had sold our house while I finished working at The Hartford.  She loved having me there and made dinner for me almost every night.  I am so thankful that I had that time there to get to know her better!

Granddaddy passed away a year ago, but I was so blessed to know him.  He loved life.  He loved Chick-fil-a and Steak-n-Shake.  He loved people.  He was such a good, Godly man.  And, he was so good to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Having not known either of my grandfathers, I am even more thankful to have had him in my life for as long as I did.  He treated me as a granddaughter.  I believe that a big part of who Jeremy is as a a man and as a Christian is because of Granddaddy.  Bob was not a Christian until he met Ann and he has said that he learned so much from Granddaddy after he became a Christian and I believe he taught those things to Jeremy.  Granddaddy's legacy will be seen for generations to come because of what Jeremy will teach our boys that is a result of what Bob taught Jeremy and Granddaddy taught Bob.  What a blessing he was and continues to be for our family!
Grandmother's health has diminished over the last several years, especially over the last year, but I have been blessed to be a part of Jeremy's family long before her health went downhill.  She used to be so active and loved to travel with her family.  She looked so forward to the annual trip to Pigeon Forge, TN at the 4th of July.  She also love to shop!  She would do Black Friday all day long and enjoyed the time so much.  She loves her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much.  She loves to talk about us to anyone who will listen.  Her family is so important to her!  Unfortunately, she cannot do all that she used to do and her mind is not what it used to be, but her love for us has not changed.  She is kind and loving and caring.  And, I am thankful for all of the time I have been able to spend with her.

I have been blessed by this older generation of men and women.  They have helped to make my parents and Jeremy's parents who they are, which has made Jeremy and me into who we are.  We have been blessed with God-loving, Christian grandparents!
