Simple Days

Yesterday, we spent the morning/early afternoon at Chuck-E-Cheese with good friends.

Kyle found a shooting game and LOVED it. He played it over and over again with another friend.  Maybe I should be concerned?!

Connor found a fishing game and won the "big prize" by capturing something and won over 100 tickets.  He was super proud!

Today, we headed to Target for a couple of little prizes they had earned for various things.  Target is always a fun trip for them!

We're looking forward to swimming lessons this afternoon and a nice weekend with Jeremy.

Hope you are enjoying your summer!

The End of Kindergarten (A Few More)

Connor had a Kindergarten performance on Thursday night to celebrate the end of the year.  He did such a great job!  The two classes sang songs about the "Wonders of the Sea".  The kids were assigned sea animals like crabs, angelfish, and octopus and each group of animals had a poem and a Bible Verse that they recited together.  Connor was an Octopus.

Each child had a "partner" that they were to make sure made it to the microphone.  Connor's partner was sitting down when Connor was headed to the microphone, so he was so cute when he knelt down to instruct his friend what to do.  He took his partnership responsibilities seriously!

"Having eight arms can be useful.
You may think it looks a bit funny,
But it helps me to hold all my children
And tickle each one on the tummy."

"Let every creature praise His Holy Name."
Psalm 145:21

After the songs, the director called each child's name and they went to their teacher to receive a certificate and a new Bible.

The highlight of the day was that both sets of grandparents came for the performance as well as Mackenzie!  Mackenzie and her parents (Christie and Dave) are moving to South Carolina and were closing on their house on Friday.  So, Christie dropped Mackenzie off in Augusta on her way to the closing so that she could spend the weekend with my parents.  The boys LOVED having her in town.

Connor had a fun water-gun fight with Mackenzie outside and then Kyle had a great time playing on the playground with Mackenzie.  We are looking forward to seeing them more often!

The last day of Kindergarten was Splash Day!  Connor had a great time playing with his friends.

Goodbye Kindergarten!  We now have a first grader!  Although, I might still call him a Kindergartener until school starts in August!  I don't want him to grow up any faster than he has to grow up!

Goodbye, Kindergarten!

Connor,  nine and a half months ago, I dropped you off at your first day of Kindergarten.  You were so excited for what was ahead.  You were excited to see your friends from the year before and you were excited to meet new friends.  You were excited to get to know your new teacher and you were excited to learn new things.  You were excited about learning reading and math.  And, from Day 1, you loved Kindergarten.

You loved your friends and your teacher and your assistant teacher and your "Tigers Group".  You loved being able to show me the things you had learned.  You loved when it was your turn to be line leader.  You loved picnics on the back playground or in the courtyard.

You loved recess fighting the bad guys with your friends.  You loved making art to show me.  You loved Treasure Box Friday.  You loved that you only had your clip moved once all year.  You loved helping your teacher.

You loved learning to read with comprehension.  You loved showing off your money counting skills.  You loved all of the different lessons you studied throughout the year like community helpers and Pilgrims and Indians and Presidents and especially dinosaurs.

You loved preparing for your Kindergarten program.  You loved teaching your class about dinosaurs this week.  You loved hearing all of the things your friends taught this week.

You loved playing on the playground after school.  You loved carpooling with Austin.  You loved riding to school with "Uncle Jonathan".  You loved going to class with your friends.

You loved learning Bible Verses at school. You loved your daily devotion.  You loved chapel.  You loved music.

You loved Mrs. Patti.  You loved Mrs. DiRenzo.  You loved Mrs. East.  You loved FBC.

And, I did, too!

Today, you have been sad about leaving Kindergarten.  You have been sad about the changes that are coming.  And, I have been sad, too.  But, I know that First Grade will be great because of the wonderful foundation that was laid for you by FBC.  You are smart and creative and imaginative and sensitive and friendly and helpful.  You are a wonderful student and you will be a wonderful student at your new school.  Any teacher will be so lucky and blessed to have you in their class.  And, the friends you will meet will be so blessed to have you in their lives.  Your tenderness and loyalty will make you friends wherever you go.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

I love you, Connor.  And, I am so proud of you!  And, I look forward to seeing all that God has in store for you!
