Happy Seventh Birthday, Connor!

Connor,
On this day, seven years ago, we had the happiest of New Year's!  You were the best present ever as we finished celebrating our holidays!  And, as you grow, we treasure you more and more every day.

We are so thankful for you!  We are so thankful that God chose us to raise you.  And, we are so thankful for each day with have with you.

Your sixth year was full of growth and learning and fun.  You finished kindergarten in May and started first grade in August.  Mommy was really worried about how you would do with going to school for such a long day five days a week (after you had spent preschool and kindergarten only going from 9:00-1:00) and Mommy worried about how you would do being in a big class at a big school, but you have done amazingly well!  You love school and you love your teacher.  And, you have done such a great job making so many new friends.  After three years of school with your best friend, Austin, you started school without knowing anyone, but you quickly made friends and you have loved your new friends.  But, you still love seeing Austin whenever you can!  You have become a hard worker and a great reader.  You do such a great job at school!

You are kind.  One day recently one of the moms of a friend of yours at school told me that her son had been upset after school one day because all of the kids had made fun of him for something, but that the one person who had not was YOU!  He said, "Connor is so nice!"  I am so proud of you!

You are a great brother to Kyle and you will be a great brother to your next brother or sister!  You are so excited for us to adopt.  Right now, you say you want us to adopt a sister, but I think you will do great with either!

You are great at helping Mommy with things around the house.  And, you are (usually) super obedient.  You really want to do the right thing and it really bothers you to get into trouble.

In October, you broke your leg while playing soccer.  After you got your cast, you did such a great job not complaining about your leg.  You adjusted to life with a broken leg very quickly and soon you were running around as if you did not have a cast on your leg!

(Bobbles, this next picture is for you.  Connor says, "I am the wizard!!")

You learned so many new things and improved on so many things this year. But, we were so excited for you to learn to swim this past summer!  You started out the summer terrified of putting your face in the water and within a few weeks, you were jumping off diving boards, swimming all over the pool, sliding down the pool slide, and swimming to the bottom of the pool for rings and toys.  We were so impressed with you!  And, it was so exciting to see you get over a real fear that you had and learn to really love swimming!

You love to play with Legos.  You could spend all day putting together Legos.  You received a lot of Legos for Christmas and we are so impressed with how well you follow the directions and put together really complex Legos on your own.  You also love Star Wars!  You had become interested in Star Wars a few months ago, but we let you watch the original Star Wars movies recently.  And, you have LOVED them!  You love to play Star Wars with Kyle.  And, you loved getting Star Wars Legos and Star Wars Lightsabers for Christmas!  You have such a sweet personality and you only want to pretend to be the "good guys", so you always play the good guy or you pretend the bad guy is a good guy!  You will say, "This is a good guy Darth Vader!".  I love your desire for goodness!

You have really grown up this year and we are so proud of you!  We are so thankful that you are our son!   And, we are so proud of who you are becoming!  God is going to do great things with you.  He has a plan for you and He is working in your life each day.  He is teaching you gentleness and kindness and self-control.  He is teaching you to be who He designed.  And, we are so thankful for the work He is doing!

Happy Seventh Birthday, Connorman!

I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.
