We are in Beijing!!

Well, it is 2:45 a.m. in China right now, but we are all wide awake in our hotel room. Jet lag! However, I wanted to let everyone know that we arrived in Beijing safe and sound.

We left late Wednesday afternoon to go to Atlanta to stay in a hotel. Our flight was at 7:20 a.m., so we got up early and took the 4:30 a.m. shuttle to the airport. Check in and security went fine and then we headed to our terminal to find breakfast and wait.

After breakfast, we went to wait at our gate and we had the best surprise...Bobbles walked up! Yep, Jeremy's dad walked up to us at the gate! We thought he was in Phoenix, but he had taken the red-eye to Atlanta and had another flight to Huntsville soon, so he came and found us! It was so nice to see him just before we boarded!

We flew from Atlanta to Detroit and had a layover there. We bought some travel pillows and ate some lunch, then waited to board. Our flight was slightly delayed, but we still made it to Beijing on time!

Soon after take-off, Kyle fell asleep. He slept until Jeremy woke him for the meal service. Connor took at short nap at one point and Jeremy and I dozed a few times, but none of us slept a lot. However, the boys did great the whole flight! They just watched their movie screens and took turns on the Kindle Fire. It really was a better trip than I could have ever imagined!

We landed in Beijing and got through Customs and baggage claim without any issues. Our guide that helped us book our trip to Beijing could not meet us because she was touring with another group, but her husband meet us and took us to the hotel where or guide, Angela, was able to meet us. Kyle slept on me the whole way from the airport and was not happy to be woken up. He was exhausted. Angela checked us in and got us to our room.

We headed out to find something quick to eat before bed. Our hotel is close to lots of shopping and restaurants. We had our first meal in China...McDonald's!! Angela will take us to a Chinese restaurant tomorrow and since we didn't know what to order on our own anywhere, McDonald's was the best choice! We still had to do a little bit of pointing, but we got our order with no problems!
We headed back to the hotel and gave the boys baths and got ready for bed. And we all crashed early! Unfortunately, we all work up early too! But, I expected this, so we are just going with the flow. I am updating the blog from my phone, Jeremy is playing on his phone, and the boys are watching a show on Netflix. We will be tired over the next few days as we adjust, but we will survive.

Today, we will meet our guide, Angela, at our hotel at 7 a.m. and she will take us and another family to the Great Wall and an acrobat show.

Pray that we will have energy to make it through the the day! And pray that we will start sleeping better over the next few days as our bodies adjust.

I will update this blog with photos later! (Updated with pictures on 7/12/2015).

Two more sleeps until Paxton!!!
