Happy 4th Birthday, Connor!

Connor celebrated his Fourth Birthday on January 1st. Since Jeremy's family was all in Newnan for his younger brother Andy's wedding on New Year's Eve, we were able to do a family party with both sides of the family. Here are some pictures from Connor's party!

It was a fun day for everyone! And, Connor wasn't done celebrating. We went to Chuck-e-Cheese with a couple of his friends on Wednesday. Sunshine and Granddaddy came to town to join in on the fun!

And, to finish off his Birthday week, we celebrated his birthday at school on Thursday!

This is the letter and milk and cookies that Connor left for Santa. Connor wrote his name all by himself, I helped write Kyle's name, and Connor wrote Ho, Ho, Ho all by himself. I was pretty impressed with it!

The boys had so much fun playing on Christmas morning!

We looked up at one point and saw Kyle walking around eating a cookie. He had found Santa's leftover cookie and started eating it! At least he was dressed like Santa!

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That!

December has been busy and fun! Here are a few pictures of this and that!

We went to "Lights of the South" one night last week. It is definitely not "Fantasy in Lights," but it was a fun experience with the kids. We took a hayride through the lights and then went to play in the kid's play area. It was dark and hard to get good pictures, but here are a couple.

The first weekend of December, the boys and I headed to Birmingham to visit Lee, Harper, and Evie while the guys went to Las Vegas. These four kids had the BEST time together. They love to play together. We were sad to go home, but it was easier knowing that we would see each other again soon at Christmas!

Kyle is so silly!

Last month, Great-Granddaddy passed away. We had to explain death and heaven to Connor, which is a difficult concept for a three year old. We told him that Great-Granddaddy had gotten really, really, really, really old and that he was really, really, really sick. Since he was so sick God decided it was time for him to go live in Heaven with Jesus and God, so God sent his angels to get Great-Granddaddy. We tried to explain that we would not see Great-Granddaddy again on Earth. When we explained all of this and went to Atlanta for the funeral, he did not have many questions. However, in the weeks since, he has occassionally brought it up. One night last week, I was putting him to bed, which is rare since Jeremy usually puts him to bed, and he asked me, "Mommy, will Great-Granddaddy get any presents in Heaven?" Oh goodness...what a sweet boy! He was concerned that Great-Granddaddy would not have any presents for Christmas. So, at first, I tried to explain that in Heaven you have everything you need so you do not need presents, but that was lost on my three year old. So, Connor and I finally decided God probably does give presents in Heaven for Christmas. During this discussion, he said something about "when the angels bring Great-Granddaddy back...". So, we talked again about not seeing Great-Granddaddy on Earth again and he got teary and said, "But, you said that Gigi misses him." The sweet boy was concerned that Gigi was missing Great-Granddaddy, so he thought the angels would bring him back to Earth. On Thanksgiving morning, we were heading to Atlanta and someone said something about Gigi and Great-Granddaddy out of habit and he immediately responded with "Great-Granddaddy won't be there. He chose to go live in Heaven with Jesus." He doesn't realize how correct he is in that statement. He did not choose the day and time, but he did choose to go to Heaven the day he chose to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior!

Where has "The White House" been?

November was such a busy month for The White House. We had good times and we had bad times and we definitely stayed busy throughout the month. Here's a recap...

Jeremy's grandfather, "Granddaddy" to us and "Great-Granddaddy" to our children, went into the hospital on November 2nd with pneumonia. Two days later he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was not given a good prognosis, but we were told that when he was told the prognosis, he started preaching to the doctor. Granddaddy was a preacher, but above that he was a Godly man. He knew where he was going and was at peace with the way he had lived his life.

On Sunday, November 6th, the four of us headed to Atlanta to visit Granddaddy in the hospital. We had debated on whether or not to go that weekend to Atlanta or to wait until he was home to go visit. At that point, the doctor's were still expecting that he would get over the pneumonia and go home later the next week. Although he wasn't expected to live a long time, he was expected to be able to go home. But, we decided we wanted to go ahead and visit. It was great to see him! He was the same joking grandfather that we all knew.

After visiting, we headed back to Augusta, but I had told Ann that I would come back whenever she needed to help keep Grandmother company during the day while Ann was at the hospital. So, on Tuesday, I left the boys to the care of my mom and Jeremy, and I headed to Atlanta to spend a couple of days with Grandmother and Ann. During the day, Ann would spend most of the day at the hospital and I would stay at the house with Grandmother. After our visit on Sunday, Granddaddy started to take a turn for the worst. By Wednesday, Ann started to prepare Grandmother that the weeks that we thought he would have were now going to be days, at most.

Then, on Wednesday night, November 9th, as we were getting ready for bed, Ann received the call that Granddaddy had passed. I was so blessed to be with Ann that night, to stay up and talk to her for hours. I learned that week that she is one of the strongest women I know.

So, on Thursday afternoon, I headed back to Augusta to wash clothes, repack, and then we headed back to Atlanta on Friday. We spent that day with Jeremy's family and then we celebrated Granddaddy's life at his funeral on Saturday, November 12th.

We will all miss Granddaddy. He was the heart and soul of the family...the family patriarch. He LOVED his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. And, he was loved by them. He was also well loved by hundreds of members of the congregations that he pastored over the years. He married Jeremy and me in 2003. And, he and Grandmother had a marriage that we should all strive to have. They loved well.

After leaving Atlanta, we headed back to Augusta for the week. The following Sunday, the boys and I headed to LaGrange to spend a few days before Thanksgiving. We had a great time with Sunshine and Granddaddy, as always!

And, all the boys wanted to do was to play outside with Granddaddy!

We even got to spend a little bit of time with Jane Anne and her family. Connor and Kyle are always excited to see "the boys"!

Then, we headed up to Atlanta for a few days with Jeremy's family. We had a great time seeing everyone again! It was really nice to all get together again so soon after losing Granddaddy.

These three kids have such a great time together!

They love each other and love to be with each other...so much so, that the boys and I headed to Birmingham for a "Girls and Kids" weekend while Jeremy and Kevin went to Andy's Bachelor's Party Weekend. But, the "Girls and Kids" weekend will have to be a post for another day! I'm exhausted just thinking about our November!

I'm glad to be home this weekend!

Family Pictures

Last week, we had family pictures taken by a local photographer, Sarah Thompson. She took pictures of us last year when I was pregnant with Kyle and I loved her work. I also love that she includes the rights to the CD in her price! I love how these pictures turned out. I could not be happier and these are just the "sneek peek"! I will get the rest in the next couple of weeks!

Trick or Treat

And, to end our three days of Halloween fun, we headed out Trick or Treating on Monday night! We had never taken Connor Trick or Treating in the past because of rain or because we were at our church's fall festival, but this year, we decided we would head out for some fun and candy!

Connor did a great job saying "Trick or Treat" and he loved seeing all of the other kids in costume!

Kyle wasn't quite sure what to think of the trick or treating, but he loved riding around in his car. And, then, he loved getting a taste of candy! When we got home, he started trying to eat Connor's candy through the wrappers, so I opened a mini 3-Muskateers and gave him bites. He LOVED it! He definitely takes after me and has a big sweet tooth!

Trunk or Treat

On Sunday night, Connor and Kyle got dressed up in their Halloween costumes and headed to Trunk or Treat at First Baptist Augusta (where Connor goes to school). But, first, we had to take pictures on the front steps like I have done every other year!

Kyle looks bored in this next picture, but he did end up having a great time!

And, of course, Connor found the inflatable slide and had a blast!

After a long time on the inflatables, we headed into the gym to try the games.

But, after a few games, Connor was ready to head back out to the inflatables! He wanted to try the inflatable obstacle course. I didn't think he could/would do it, but we got in line anyway. While waiting in line, we let Kyle out of his stroller and he had a great time!

And, Connor did an amazing job at the obstacle course! We were so impressed!

FBC Augusta's Trunk or Treat is definitely a must for next year! So much fun!

Pumpkin Time

Saturday afternoon was spent painting and carving pumpkins. We let Connor enjoy some time with Mommy and Daddy while Kyle took a nap. Connor had a great time painting his pumpkin(s). Jeremy carved a haunted house pumpkin and I painted a polka dot pumpkin.

Wesley Carnival

Wesley Methodist Church is a church close to our house. We went to the fall carnival there last year and had a great time, so we definitely wanted to head back there this year.

So, on Saturday morning, we started our Halloween weekend out by going to the carnival. We had a blast!

Connor LOVED the rides!

And, Kyle was able to join in on the fun on one of the rides! He wasn't quite sure what I was getting him into, but he ended up loving it!

I think Connor's favorite thing was the mechanical bull!

Great way to start off the weekend! And, I can't wait to go back next year!

Kindermusik

We went to a combined Kindermusik class last Wednesday with some of the older Kindermusik kids rather than our normal Thursday class. Since Connor wasn't in school (like he is on Thursday's), Connor was able to join Kyle for Kindermusik. Connor loved his 3 years of Kindermusik and misses going, so he was happy to get to join Kyle. Since it was the last class before Halloween, many of the kids dressed up. I dressed Connor up in his costume, but Kyle's dinosaur costume was more appropriate for colder weather and the 80 degree day didn't seem appropriate for it. I was afraid he would burn up!

Kyle's One Year Appointment

Kyle and I went last week for his one year check-up. He did great! He had to check out the entire waiting room and I kept having to go get him to keep him from walking over to the "sick child" side of the office.

This next picture is how Kyle entertained himself while we waited for the doctor to come in the room!

He found this beam underneath the patient table and had a great time climbing over it over and over and over again!

People comment all the time "what a big boy he is!" When you look at him, he does look like a big boy, but his cheeks deceive you. He has huge chipmunk cheeks, but the rest of him is so much smaller than Connor was at this age!

Here are the stats:
Weight: 20 lbs., 8 oz. (20th percentile)
Length: 30 inches (40-45th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18 1/4 inches (40-45th percentile)

To compare, Connor's stats at 12 months:
Weight: 22 lbs., 8 oz. (50th percentile)
Length: 30.5 inches (60th percentile)
Head Circumference: 19 inches (80th percentile)

But, Dr. Middlebrooks is happy with Kyle's growth and development and says he's just perfect.

Hopefully, we won't be back to the doctor until his 15 month checkup!

Mom's New Laundry Room

I just had to blog this because I am so jealous of my mom's new laundry room AND so impressed with her craftman. My brother Stan made all of the cabinets and the countertop in the new laundryroom! He did a great job. He has made toy boxes and toy cabinets in the past, but he has not done an entire room of cabinets before now. I think that he has done a GREAT job! I'm so jealous and wish that my laundry room looked like this!

Phil Williamson Day

Saturday, we spent the day celebrating "Phil Williamson Day" at LaGrange College. My dad retired this summer after 42 years as the Athletic Director at LaGrange College. To honor him and his service to LaGrange College and to the hundreds of student athletes that he has encountered, LaGrange College designated this year's Homecoming as "Phil Williamson Day."

My dad started his coaching career 51 years ago as a coach at Troup High School. 9 years later, in 1969, he became the Athletic Director at LaGrange College. He has coached tennis, basketball and baseball. He started the baseball program at LC and coached until 1996. He remained Athletic Director after retiring from being a head coach. He has been to more ball games and athletic events than anyone I know!

"Phil Williamson Day" started with a breakfast in his honor. Over 150 people gathered for breakfast, fellowship, and speakers. One of the speakers was Jack Martin, a former baseball player that played on my dad's first baseball team at LaGrange College. Jack was entertaining and funny, but he also spoke from the heart. You could hear the emotion in his voice and half the room had tears in their eyes as he paid tribute to my dad.

Another speaker was Q.V. Love, the baseball coach at Auburn Unversity at Montgomery.

The new LaGrange College Athletic Director, Jennifer (J.D.) Claybrook spoke at the end. She did a great job honoring my dad and bring tears to everyone's eyes! She was a student athlete at LaGrange College and later became a head coach at LC. Earlier this year, she was named as the new A.D. She spoke about what an amazing mentor, encourager and friend he has been to her.

At the end, my dad spoke and told several stories about some of the former athletes in attendance. He can recall details of games from 20, 30, and 40 years ago!

After the breakfast, my dad was the Grand Marshall of the Homecoming Parade. Connor got to ride in the convertable with him!

We spent the rest of the morning tailgating with friends and family. We didn't see much of the man of honor during the tailgate because so many people wanted to talk to him and wish him well! But, the kids had fun playing outside all morning!

At the football game, my dad did the coin toss.

After the game, we headed over to the baseball field for the final event of the day. The baseball field was being renamed in his honor. When the field was built, it was named Cleaveland Field in honor of Philip Cleaveland, a fomer LC trustee. On Saturday, the stadium was named Williamson Stadium, so the baseball complex is now Williamson Stadium at Cleaveland Field.

Coach Kevin Howard, the current LaGrange College baseball coach spoke and did a great job paying tribute to my dad. Coach Howard met my dad when they coached against each other in the mid-90's. Several years later, my dad hired Coach Howard as the baseball coach at LC.

I love the next picture because it is of my dad with the guys from his first LaGrange College baseball team. It was such a blessing and a testament to his influence that so many of these guys came to this event over 20 years since they played ball for him. These guys showed their love and admiration for him by hooting and hollering when the sign was revealed. They were so excited for his legacy to be preserved at the baseball stadium. Throughout the day, I heard person after person talk about what he has meant to them and how much he has influenced their life. I saw men become emotional as they talked about him and I heard over and over again how he has been a father figure to someone. One former player, Scott Middlebrooks, said of him on Facebook, "Coach means more to us 'hoodlums' than he will ever know. We love him so much...espcially me - he and Sonji took care of me when they didn't even know they were taking care of me... I love them so much! They were family when I needed family."

And, Scott is not the only one to feel this way. Over the past 6 months, since he announced his retirement, I have read emails, letters, and cards from friends and former athletes congratulating him on his retirement and thanking him for his mentoring and influence. My dad has said several times that he may not have more wins than he does loses, but what matters is the influence he has had on these players lives. Seeing the huge turnout this weekend, reading all of the letters, and hearing all of the testaments, I know that he has influenced more lives than most people could ever dream about!

In addition to the renaming of the stadium, LC had my parent's "spot" painted at the baseball field. My parents always sit in the same spot and now their spot has a special signature. #35 was my dad's number when he coached baseball.

My mom deserves her own day, "Sonji Williamson Day" or "Coach's Wife Day"! My mom was the ideal coach's wife. Being a coach's wife is not an easy job. Coaching is not a 8-5 job or a Monday through Friday job. Coaching is beyond a full-time job and with that, a coach's wife is a full-time job. And, I think that Athletic Director's wife is even more demanding! Not only did my dad coach baseball all spring, he coached fall baseball throughout the fall, recruited and scouted througout the summer. On top of that, he was the Athletic Director, so he attended sporting events from other sports throughout the rest of the year. My mom has been to almost as many ball games as my dad! She has attended games at colleges all over the Southeast and beyond. She went out of her way to attend almost ever game he coached and continued to travel with him to games after he retired as baseball coach. She learned the names and numbers of hundreds of players over the years. She has cheered for baseball, basketball, soccer, football, lacross, and many other sports. Not only does she know the players, she knows their parents, grandparents, girlfriends and boyfriends, and siblings! Other than attending games, my mom went beyond the call of duty as hostess. She has personally cooked dinner for entire teams and their parents. She has cooked dinner for all of the coaches and their families and hosted annual Christmas parties for the coaches and their spouses. More people have eaten at her house for one meal than I will probably ever cook for in my life!

The next picture is of the current A.D., Jennifer (J.D.) Claybrook, my dad (the former A.D.), and Jerry Cleaveland, the son of Philip Cleaveland of whom the field is also named.

And, here is a family picture of all of us from Saturday!

It was a great day and I am so glad that my family could be there for it. I have always known that my dad is loved and respected in LaGrange, but it was great to see how far his influence has reached. Men and women from all over came to LaGrange on Saturday for the sole purpose of recognizing Phil Williamson for his accomplishments. People went out of their way to be there to celebrate him.

An old friend from high school posted this song on her blog today. I liked it so much that I wanted to post it here.

I have worked since I was in high school. Actually, if you count all of the babysitting I did before that, I have worked since I was 11 years old! I babysat for years, then I worked at our church's day care in high school. In college, I worked at a party supply store and baby sat for the owners children almost every day through college. I substituted for several months. I interned at an advertising agency. I had a great job at The Hartford underwriting (and later selling) insurance. And, now, I have been the part-time office manager for a great boss (my father-in-law) for the past 5 years.

All of these jobs have been great for me financially. I have enjoyed meeting lots of different people at these jobs. I have enjoyed most of them and I have done a good job at them. However, none of these jobs have really mattered that much. Oh, they were great jobs at the times that I had them, but in the grand scheme of things, they did not matter much.

The greatest job of my life has the longest hours, the least pay, and the fewest co-workers. It is a job that I have received the least feedback, have shed the most tears, and have seen the greatest rewards. My current job is Mommy. And, it is a 24 hour a day position with no vacation time off, no holiday time off, no 401(k), and no overtime pay. There is no monetary pay at all. Instead, it costs way more money to do job than I probably ever made in my previous jobs. But, the benefits to this job are so much better than any benefits that I received from any previous job. They days are long and the work is HARD... the hardest job I have ever had. But, the benefits for this job are the best you could ever ask for from any job. I am so blessed to have this job and to receve the benefits from the two hardest, most demanding bosses!

This song reminded me today that I need to be doing everything that I do for the Glory of God. Sometimes I forget that what I am doing matters. I may not be evaluated by a manager each year or given raises for my preformance, what I am doing in my current "job" matters. It matters more than anything I have ever done before or will do in the future. Even though my job is currently to pick up toys, sweep up cheerios, and chase little boys around all day, I am to glorify God in whatever I do. What I am doing now is raising two little boys. One day they will be grown and out of this house and I may have other jobs in the future. And though I will always be a mother, my current role as "mommy" is the most important role I will have. I am shaping their lives and their futures. Not only am I supposed to teach them to be polite, help them learn their ABC's and 123's, make sure that they play well with others, teach them to be confident, kind, resourceful boys, I have a great responsibility to raise these boys to know Christ. I am their first source of learning about God. Yes, Jeremy teaches them, also, but I am the one with them all day. And, yes, they go to church, but I am the one with them all day. I am the one that should "tell (them) the story of grace" each and every day. I pray that I will do that. What a great big responsibility. But, I wouldn't want any other position right now! I love my job!

A Day at the Farm

We spent this morning at Steed's Dairy Farm with our friends Annette, Jordan, Lydia, and Megan. While we were there, we ran into several other friends. The kids had a great time and it wore them out! At the end of the morning, we took a hay ride and Kyle fell asleep in my lap.

The weather was so nice this morning and turned out pretty warm before we left, but it was a great day for a day at the farm. We have gone to a farm the past two years, so it is neat to look back at our old pictures from 2010 and 2009. (Click on the year to see our previous fun days on the farm).

Our cheering couldn't pull Auburn through another win on Saturday night, but aren't these two Auburn fans so super cute!?!

Kyle has become obsessed with going outside to play. And, he is so mad when he cannot talk someone into taking him out. He goes and starts trying to open the door and reaches for the door knob, which he cannot actually reach and then he starts fussing and whining. Kyle rarely fusses so it is actually amusing that he gets so upset if he doesn't get to go outside when he wants! But, isn't that the cutest mad baby!?

Connor has started having "Rest Time" instead of "Nap Time" most days. Some days he still takes a nap if he is misbehaving since that is his normal sign that he is really tired. But, most days, he just spends a couple of hours in his room. Today, he was being really good, so he was just doing rest time. During rest time, he starts off reading books in his bed and then eventually, I let him get on the floor to play quietly. Today, he had been playing for awhile on the floor and around 3 p.m. he asked if rest time was over yet. I told him that it would be soon. (Love the walkie-talkie mode on our monitor!) After about 10 minutes, I realized that it was really quiet on the monitor so I went upstairs to check on him. I found him asleep with Puppy Dog in his chair in his room! Isn't he so cute!

One day earlier this week, Connor made a man out of his toys. The head is made of a hula hoop. The mouth is a train and the eyes and nose are made with stacking donuts. The ears are made from little triangle blocks. The body is a book and the belly button is a coaster. The arms are made of little ladders. You cannot see in this pictre, but one hand was holding a toy that the man was playing with! The legs are made with bats and the feet are made with footballs.

Connor and Kyle's cousins, Harper and Evie, came this weekend to celebrate Kyle's birthday. The four of them had so much fun together! They love playing together. And, the weather was so beautiful this weekend for spending time outside! They had great time playing in our backyard yesterday afternoon and this morning. Lee and I have talked so many times over the years about how much we wish we lived closer. As the kids get older and enjoy each other's company more and more, I wish more and more that we lived closer to them and could spend time together on a more regular basis. These kids sure do love each other!

Happy Birthday, sweet boy! We had so much fun celebrating Kyle's first birthay with family and friends on Saturday. As every parent knows, the first birthday is much more for the mom, dad, and the rest of the family, than for the 1 year old! But, we all had a great time! Kyle especially loved his cupcake! He was unsure what to do with it at first and just poked it for a few minutes, but after I put a little bit in his mouth, he became VERY interested and dove right into it!

We spent too much time eating, playing on the playground and socializing with friends and family, so we did not have time to open presents at the party. Jeremy and Kevin headed to the Auburn-South Carolina game after the party (War Eagle!) and my family and Jeremy's family came back to the house to open presents. Kyle was not so interested in opening presents, but he did check each one out after it was opened. Connor, Harper and Evie LOVED opening presents. They, also, LOVED playing with the presents! We spent the rest of the day playing with all of Kyle's new toys. It is amazing that the same toys that entertain a 1 year old can entertain three 3 year olds and a 6 year old all day long! The four cousins had a great time playing together and playing with all of the new things!

Kyle was very blessed by all of the love, hugs, gifts, cards, and quality time that he received from everyone! We had so much fun celebrating our little guy's birthday!

Kyle, this past year has been so much fun! You are such a sweet, loving, playful, smiley little boys. Your smile lights up a room! People stop and coo and talk to you all the time and tell me how adorable you are. You give such sweet hugs. You are so proud of yourself when we clap for you. You are so proud when you walk a short distance. You are walking more and more now and I know you will be running before long! You will have to start running to keep up with your big brother. You love Connor so much. He makes you smile like no one else. He can make you laugh and smile just by talking to you. And, you make him laugh and smile, too! You love to crawl into Connor's bed to wake him up. You crawl right over him and he just starts laughing at you and you start laughing at him. It is the sweetest sound in the world to me! You are trying to learn some words. We think you say "Su-Shi" for Sunshine and "Ta-Ta" for Connor. You love trucks and bats. You love to push a little hand-held trucks around all over the room and you love to push your big ride on trucks around the room, too. You, also, love playing with a bat. You hit balls that are on the ground with the bat. You'll be playing baseball with Connor before we know it! You love to plunder in drawers, especially the bathroom drawers and daddy's sock drawer. You LOVE your daddy! When daddy is getting ready for work in the morning, you always want him to pay attention to you and pick you up. You light up when he comes in the room. You love to be outside and you are so content outside. You can eat, and eat, and eat! You gave up baby food just after turning 9 months old and have been eating all kinds of table food ever since. You just eat whatever we eat. You love pizza! You love spaghetti, lasagna, mexican food, macaroni and cheese, lima beans, sweets(!), and fruit. The only two things I have ever given you that you would not eat were broccoli and carrots. You are definitely a great eater! You sleep great at night and take great naps during the day, but you have been waking up a little too early lately! You have some stranger anxiey and you do not like for mommy to leave you in the nursery at church. Once I leave, you stop crying usually, but you would much rather be with me! You love balloons, slides, swings, bubbles, trucks, balls, bats, snacks, desserts, being outside, playing with Connor, clapping, waving, and bathtime! Oh bathtime...that is definitely your favorite time of the day! As soon as I let you loose upstairs, you head for the tub. Once I get your clothes off, you start trying to hike your leg over to get in the tub and you love to splash around once you are in it. You have so much fun in it! There are so many other things I should or could write about, but the most important thing is that you are loved! You are so loved by mommy, daddy, Connor and the rest of our family and so may friends. You truly do light up a room with your smile and I am so blessed to get to see it everyday!

We spent Labor Day weekend in Atlanta with Jeremy's family. Jeremy's grandparents live in Atlanta, so it was a good meeting place for all of his family to get together. Soccer and Children's Museum

Connor's first game was last Thursday. He had fun, which is all that matters, but soccer may not be his best sport! He really did seem to have a great time, but he was more comfortable following the others around rather than getting in the middle of them and trying to get the ball. But, isn't he so cute in his soccer uniform!

Last Friday, the boys and I headed to Atlanta to spend a few hours with my parents at the Children's Museum and lunch. We had a great time! Connor loves that place. We haven't been in months, but as we were turning from Spring Street to Baker Street, Connor said, "We are almost there. We just have to turn into the parking garage now!" I was so impressed that he knew where we were on the road and that he remembered where we always park when we go there.

On this trip, Kyle was able to enjoy the museum, too. They have a baby area that he loved! He loved crawling in the tunnels climbing everything.

First Soccer Practice

Connor had his first soccer practice on Monday. He is playing in the 3-4 league with the Y. He had a great time at his first practice, but he preferred trying to kick goals than just running around kicking the ball! We are so excited for him that he is old enough to play in an organized sport. He has always loved playing ball at home, so we look forward to watching him play with others. It will be good for him to learn the rules and learn to play with others. And, it will be so much fun for us to watch him!

First Day of Preschool

Connor is going to K-3 Preschool on Tuesday and Thursdays this year. It is his first "school" experience and he is loving it so far! He missed the first week because he was sick, but he has now gone to preschool twice. He has done great! His teacher, Mrs. Head, said that he came right in and joined in without hesitation even after missing the first two days. She said he is great at following directions. He seems to really enjoy it. He has gotten to do show-in-tell, make cookies, play on the playground, sing at Chapel, learn about the letter "A" and make many new friends! I am so glad that he is enjoying it so much and I hope that he continues to enjoy it.

Oh, how I love these boys! They make me smile all day! I am so blessed by these two little guys. I cannot imagine having sweeter, better kids! Of course, there are times that I lose my patience with them and times that Connor pitches a fit or something. But, most of the time, they are sweet, kind, loving, well-behaved little boys. They sleep great, they eat great, and they play great! They are both so laid back and easy (most of the time). They are exhausting, but so much fun! I am so blessed to get to stay home with them and enjoy their lives while they are so young! Some days are hard and long, but the benefits of being with these little guys makes it so worth it!

The bandage on Kyle's hand in the picture above is because he burned the top of his hand last week with my hair straightener. I was fixing my hair and he tried to pull up to stand and pulled on the cord which pulled the straightener out of my hand and onto his. He only cried for a minute, but it looked bad so I called the doctor. He prescribed a cream for it and told us to wrap it in gauze to keep it from getting infected. I have had to wrap it, tape it, wrap it again, and then double wrap it with tape just to have any hope of keeping the gauze on his hand! But, it is finally looking better and I was able to stop using the wrap today. Last week, he was healing from a black eye from falling off the bottom stairs and he had the wrap on his hand for the burn. He looked pretty pitiful!

Connor is supposed to start preschool (K-3) on Tuesday. He will go on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9-1. But, he has a fever today. So, he may not be going this week. We'll have to wait and see. Last Sunday, Kyle came down with a fever and had one for 5 days. I hope that Connor's does not last that long!

On Friday, Jeremy and I went to Connor's preschool for parent orientation and then, I took Connor back for Meet the Teacher. Connor's teacher, Mrs. Head, seems great! I think we will be very happy with her. I am sad that my baby is going to school...even if it is just preschool! But, I know that he will do great and he will love it. He did not want to leave Meet the Teacher because he was having so much fun in the classroom! He would have been perfectly happy if I had left him there for awhile! Preschool will be a great thing for Connor. It will help him to gain maturity and independence and social skills. He will love learning and playing with others his age. But, I hate the idea of him spending 4 hours twice a week without me! I will be teary on his first day (and he will probably run off to play without even waving good bye)!

Retirement Present

Last night, my parents hosted their annual end of the year dinner for all of the coaches and their families from LaGrange College. This was not only an end of the year part, but an "end of an era" party. This was my dad's last one since he is now retired! There were well over 60 people at my parents house last night. Thank goodness for beautiful weather! We were able to eat outside and the kids were all able to play outside. Connor had a great time playing with all of the other kids!

The coaches gave him this great blanket made out of t-shirts for each of the sports at LaGrange College. All of the coaches signed their sport's t-shirt. Such a thoughtful gift!

These two boys have so much fun together!

I usually give Kyle a bath and Jeremy usually gives Connor a bath, but to speed up the process and to give Jeremy a break the other night after he cut the grass, I decided to bath them together. They had a BLAST! Connor loved trying to entertain Kyle and Kyle loved being entertained by Connor!

Last night, Connor and Jeremy made a fire truck with things around the house. The hood of the truck was the brown storage box turned upside down. The siren was a blue snack cup. Four paper plates made the tires. The cab of the turck was made out of the laundry basket. And the doors were made with pillows. He enjoyed it so much that he made it again this morning. Connor had a great time driving his fire truck to fires and jumping out to go put out a fire. He even wanted Kyle to get in the fire truck with him!

Water Night at WBC!

Last night was Water Night at our church, Warren Baptist Church. I knew that they would have inflatable water slides for the kids and some smaller pools and things for the little ones. I thought Connor would only do the small baby pools. I did not think he would want to do the water slides, mainly because you slide into a pool of water. He doesn't like to get his face and head wet at the pool, so I did not think he would like sliding into the pool of water. Well, I was WRONG! He loved the slides! He amazed me with how brave he was and how excited he would get on the slides! He did every slide over and over and over again. He did not want to leave. But, unfortunately, we had not had dinner, so after an hour and a half of sliding, I finally made him leave! I was so proud of him and loved watching him have such a great time!

Mimi's House

The boys had a great time playing at Mimi's house. Connor LOVES playing with the old Micro-Machines (little bitty cars and trucks) and old matchbox cars. He could spend hours playing in a room off of Mimi and Bobble's room that we have started calling "the playroom"! He was up bright and early every morning to play with Mimi and all of the cars.

Kyle had a great time playing with all of the toys at Mimi's house, too, but we had to keep him out of the playroom most of the time because of the Micro-Machines that he wanted to eat!

Both boys loved playing on Mimi's piano! Maybe we have a future musician in the family!

Huntsville Botanical Gardens

After we left the birthday weekend in Atlanta, Connor, Kyle and I headed to Huntsville to spend the week with Mimi. While we were there, we went to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. It was so much fun! The gardens have treehouses throughout with all sorts of fun things...ladders, a pirate ship, a tire swing, water features, and much more! Connor had a great time! It was a lot of fun for all of us, actually! I hope we can go back next summer and do it again. Next year, Kyle will be able to enjoy it from outside of the stroller!

A few weeks ago, Connor and I had a date to Sesame Street Live! It was so much fun to spend the morning with Connor and to watch him enjoy the show! He loved singing and dancing to the music. He, also, loved the sno cone that I bought him! I love doing things with both of my boys, but it was nice to spend some one-on-one time with Connor. He was so good and had such a great time!

Happy Retirement Granddaddy!

Today is my dad's last day as Athletic Director at LaGrange College. He has been AD at LC for 42 years! And, before that, he had been a coach at Troup High School in LaGrange for 9 years. So, he is retiring from 51 years in athletics! He has taught, coached, and mentored students for over half of a century!

We are proud of you, Granddaddy! And, we look forward to seeing you more often! We know that you and Sunshine are going to enjoy your new "life of leisure," but we also know that you will still be at as many ballgames as you can make. The only downside of you retiring is that Connor's really going to miss going to work with Granddaddy!

My Sweet Boys

I love these two boys SO MUCH! And, one of the things that I love SO MUCH is that they love each other SO MUCH! Connor is so good to Kyle. If Kyle cries, Connor comes to find out why and tries to make him smile. Kyle loves to watch Connor and laughs at him and with him constantly. One of Kyle's favorite things is to try to climb on top of Connor. Connor is so good and lets him climb all over him and they just laugh and laugh at themselves. I love it!

Connor pretty much ignored Kyle for the first three months of his life. He did not dislike Kyle and was not mean to him in any way. He just ignored him for the most part. He didn't even say his name for three months; he just called him "Baby" if he talked about him at all. Slowly, Connor started paying more attention to Kyle, but then Kyle started moving around and getting into Connor stuff around 6 months old. Connor would say "Kyle's got my toys! Get Kyle, get Kyle, get Kyle!" Now, Kyle is into everything and loves to be near Connor and near Connor's stuff. he crawls over his own toys to get to Connor's stuff. And, Connor has started to share with him! Yesterday, he said, "Here Kyle. You can play with these cars and I will play with these cars!" Also, yesterday, I had to put Kyle in the Exersaucer (which he HATES) while I cooked dinner. When Kyle started fussing, Connor got one of Kyle's toys and took it to him and then he started singing silly songs to him without me asking him to do so! It was so sweet!

We are very blessed by these two boys! I love how they interact with each other. It is a blessing to watch them grow up!

When we went to the beach a few weeks ago, we went to dinner at a Japanese restaurant one night. The waitress passed out chopsticks to everyone, including kid-friendly ones that were attached together at the top to teach kids how to use them. Connor LOVED them! He ate his entire dinner with them...and ate really well!

We have just returned from a quick visit to St. Simons to see my cousins. We were able to see all three boys (Mills, Andrew, and Davis) play baseball.

The whole reason that we went out to Arizona was to attend the W5 Tech picnic. W5 is Bobbles' company and I work part-time for him. Another favorite activity in Arizona was our trip to the Phoenix Children's Museum. It is the best children's museum that we have visited. Connor had a great time!

He loved this activity...it was a cactus with an eagle at the top whose wings were made from a fan. The kids would turn the wheel and the spiders would climb the cactus and then get knocked off by the eagle at the top and go flying through the air!

We headed out to Scottsdale, Arizona a few weeks ago to visit with Mimi and Bobbles. Mimi drove over from Huntsville to fly out to Arizona with Connor, Kyle, and me. Jeremy flew out a few days later. The boys did great on all of the flights. And, we all had a great time in Arizona.

One night, we headed to Rustler's Rooste for dinner. It is a HUGE restaurant with a live bull outside, a huge slide and a live band. Connor loved the slide and it was perfect entertainment for him while we waited for a table!

It was great to spend some time with just him. My attention is always divided between the two of them, so it was nice for me to spend some special time with Connor. However, while we left Kyle at my parents for the day, we left him with two bottles. But, Kyle does not like bottles and only took an ounce or two of each. He was so excited to see me when we got back to my parents that evening!

We had a great Easter! After church, we hosted Easter lunch at our house. We had a "pot-luck" lunch with a 5 other couples and all of our children. There were 12 adults and 11 children; definitely a full house! Well, actually, there were only 10 children because Kyle slept the whole time! I put him down for an early nap since he did not take a good nap this morning while we were at church. He went to sleep right before the first guest arrived and woke up as the last guest was leaving! Even with all of the noise downstairs, he slept great!

Kyle is 6 months old today. I cannot believe that six months have flown by, but then again, it feels like Kyle has been a part of our family forever! To celebrate his half-birthday, I treated him to a trip to the doctor for his check-up and a round of shots. He did so well for his doctor's visit and even did great for his shots. He did not cry at all with the first two shots and then cried with the third shot. But, he calmed down as soon as I picked him up. He is such a sweet baby!

6 months - 16 lbs., 3 oz. (30%); 26 1/2 inches (50%)

Most people think he's a big boy when they look at him, but he's actually a good bit smaller than Connor was at this age and is now in the 30th percentile in weight. I think his cute, chubby cheeks make people think that he's a lot bigger than he really is! But, the doctor's happy with his growth and weight and he's doing great!

So, now Connor and I think that we deserve some birthday cake for Kyle's half-birthday!

Kyle was cracking up laughing the other night, so we got some of it on video! Turn your volume up and enjoy his sweet laugh!

While this was going on, Connor was finishing our picnic dinner (in the den). I looked down and realize that he had been sneaking Doritos while we were not paying attention. Sneaking little boy!
